designer's own words:
Anticipation is the point in time between what we know from the past and what we expect to happen in the future. We often do this in our mind whether it is an important social event, the turning of the seasons or something as simple of an ocean wave starting to crest.
This may seem ephemeral or undefinable but it can actually be marked in a visual way. This design is an attempt to achieve this goal in a way that could be controlled by the anticipation event observer.
The design consists of a marker of space and time represented by the round disc floating off the wall. The disc has a digital readout which can be set to any length of time from minutes to months or years.
The object at the top is the event finial. The vertical form is a time bar. The form will seem to twist through the passage of time. As it does so, it will move vertically in a downward spiral. Just like the sand of an hourglass, when the form reaches the end it will signify the event has arrived. To celebrate this moment, the display will trigger a visual event.
