ONE FAMILY

Two concepts have been taken into account for the design of One Family.

Ergonomics:
A handle must adapt to the hand and be pleasant to hold. In One Family, the handle’s shape has been developed using mock-ups instead of computer-generated three-dimensional designs. The target was to empirically obtain a handle that was both beautiful and highly ergonomic in order to make it comfortable to hold. The mock-ups were constructed of wood because carving is an easy way to get the wanted shape. Wood is a material transmitting warmth, but our intention is to use just one material so that wood is not very suitable for this purpose. That is the reason why aluminium is considered much more convenient for this handle set. We are talking about a low thermal inertia material that quickly gains the temperature of our hand, in contrast to stainless steel, which is a cold material.

Versatility:
An architectural project requires the use of several types of handles (garage doors, main doors, entry doors, interior doors, windows, furniture…).
Designed following the same style, this set composed of three handles of different sizes has been created to meet all the demands explained before.
All handles have been designed to be placed either vertically or horizontally. They can be combined with the traditional roses (circular or elongated) the market offers. As these handles are so light, they can even be used without a rose if an appropriate mechanism is installed.
