o'clock by lijun cher from singapore
designer's own words:
A simple O shaped wall ‘clock’ that defines the poetry of time.
The design drew inspiration from how a tree’s shadow changes throughout the day and how that shadow pattern reflects, measures and symbolizes time.
In O’clock, time is defined likewise, with patterns created by refracted light from crystals. Two light sources move within the structure (as clock hands move); and the moving lights create changing light effects.
O’clock requires a dialogue between the user and itself, sharing an appreciation of time.
A simple O shaped wall ‘clock’ that defines the poetry of time.
The precise cuts on the crystals allow the light pattern to be consistent, as long as the light intensity and relative positions are maintained. This allow the user to ‘learn’ the clock’s patterns.
