This project was an idea that had been in my head since my friend passed away in a motorcycle accident in the Fall of 2012. When I saw this design competition and began research, it lead me back to the idea: to create a backpack that would offer impact without requiring the user to wear any bulky gear. Most importantly, I looked to provide protection for the neck and vital areas most likely to be the cause of death in an impact trauma. I expanded the project to encompass other extreme sports areas such as mountain biking and winter sports to create a unified line across the Oakley brand.
