Notch door handle by Lance Jooste from south africa
designer's own words:
the name taken from the distinct cutaways that form part of the design, the Notch is an exercise in subtle elegance. concept exploration began without restrictions, but was narrowed down to what could be done with the most elementary shapes: the circle, triangle and square. by experimenting with the above to create a form comfortable to hold; the final design was chosen.
the set is mounted to the door in the manner of the antologhia (2 screws for each mounting) making its construction and assembly simple doing away with the two roses. through the process of die-casting the handle, escutcheon and keyhole covers are manufactured in the available colombo base metal alloys and surface finishes.
the aesthetic fuses classic cues with abstracted, contemporary forms giving birth to a functional product that pleases the senses.
