natura by marialena papadimitriou from greece
designer's own words:
being inspired by nature and appreciating the uniqueness and the variety of shapes that appear in it, we set as a primary target in our design to point those out. in addition, taking into consideration the purpose for which the item is designed, as well as the surrounding spaces for which it is designed, we wanted to create to the consumers a sense of intimacy, by using mainly forms and objects that are part of their everyday life. thus, the object that finally became our inspiration was no other than a leaf. while retaining the frugality and the organicity which characterize it, we aspire to sensitize every one of us to something which in our days tends to fade out. the use of curved shapes and the motion, that a leaf’s shape represents, are becoming clear throughout the object’s form, whereas the simplicity is pointed out particularly by the material and the color which are used. of great importance guideline at every stage of our designing procedure was the aesthetics, which in combination with the criteria of usability and ergonomics gave to our object its final shape. the handle that we created is named “natura”. there is also provision for the company’s logo on a certain area of the rose. the material, of which the handle that we suggest is made of, is brass with a mat chrome finish.
