moving city by emre calis from turkey
designer's own words:
Within the "Moving City", buildings are formed of units of 100m2 and these units individually have 3D moving capacity. Within a pre-determined framework, these units can settle down on any coordinates on the x,y and z axis. This will allow more freedom for people's movements. It will also abolish the conviction of the unit inhabitants to a certain story. Moreover, this will allow the opportunity to switch your neighbours.
As a result of the movements of these units, you will be able to observe various random sequences which will also create several city silhouettes. The city will be perceived as a work of art.
Property as a concept is another fact that imprisons the humanity. With these moving units, the reality of ownership will be removed and the non-belonging of people is emphasised.
Assets and wealth are restrictive facts. This is why these units will be rent-only for a period of he year and they have to be swapped with another unit inhabitant. As a result, tenants will not purchase any unnecessary stuff. Another result of swapping units will push people to meet the unit inhabitants and will positively contribute to the interaction and communication of the inhabitants.
The city is on the move/ in motion 24/7 with the 3D movement of the units as well as the tenants in motion. Also the daily activities of people living in this city will also contribute to the movement and will perpetuate the motion.
