・技術革新による文化変遷
技術革新はあらゆる面で、とりわけ文化の革新において私たちに恩恵をもたらしました。
技術の利便性追求によって人間の身体においては、それまでに見えていたものや感じていたものを失ってしまった結果、
私たちの感覚器官の鈍化を招きました。
人の歩行速度はおよそ４㎞/hであり、車の走行速度では見える景色や聞こえる音、匂い、思索する時間などに大きな違いがあります。
それらは人間の感覚器官を通して得られる情報となります。
今日、私たちはどのような場所にいて、そこで何かを思索することはとても重要なことであり、
文化とはそのようなものの上に成り立っているのではないかと考えます。
技術革新は地域固有の文化を脅かさないまでも、少なからず影響を与えていることは承知の事実です。

・身辺を取り巻く環境について
人は炎天下や厳寒環境では生活することは困難です。
建築空間には床や壁・屋根があり、外部環境を中和若しくは断絶することで、人は生活を営んできました。
しかし外部環境をすべて断絶することは、地域固有の風土の希薄化となり、世界を均一なものにすることにもなります。

寒いときには、温かい場所へ。
暑いときには、涼しい場所に。
暗いところからは、明るい場所に。
常に人は、心地よいと感じる場所に身を置くことを望みます。

・感覚器官としてのモーション
この装置は一枚の半透明カーテン素材のようなものでしか２つの空間が区切られていません。
内部は、照明光と加湿器により周囲空間との間には温度及び明度差が生じています。
人が触れれば簡単にその境界は消失し、内外部環境は中和状態となります。
この空間は、毎時毎日刻々と変化を繰り返します。
そのことで空間を型どる形態も雲のように変化し、
サーモグラフィでしか空間の外形は把握できないようなあいまいで実態のない空間と云えます。
これは周囲より少しだけ暖かく、ぼんやりと明るいだけであり空間を包む境界線を認識し、
感じ取ることで感覚器官を豊かなものへと導くような装置となります。

デザインには、人の心を豊かにし、快適性を追求する義務があります。
ただし、それが行き過ぎたものであってはなりません。
デザインされたものや場所は、私たちにとって常に手を添える程度の柔らかな存在であって、
私たちがそれらによって自分自身が感じ取るものについて常に考えるということを継続できるようなものである必要があります。
ある程度の不自由さは、人間の感覚器官を研ぎ澄ませ、より豊かな生活を営むことになるかもしれません。
