morph by joe waller from uk
designer's own words:
Morph consists of 5 modular neoprene seating pods that combine with the mother ship ( a neoprene bag ) that houses them. The mother ship expands and contracts to give a snug fit around any number of pods allowing for infinite seating configurations. Morph can adapt to the owner’s requirements as a place to sit, sleep and relax
By using neoprene there are well established after-care products for cleaning it. Neoprene is available in a wide variety of colours. The neoprene pods conceal an inner bag that contains recycled foam chip. This is super comfortable and also creates a positive way of utilising waste foam chip from the furniture industry.
The neutral styling of Morph is adaptable across the teenage age range. To truly be able to fit under the vast umbrella of different teenage subcultures, the Morph manufacturing process is connected to a web-page with a simple vector drawing package. On the web-page, teenagers create designs that can subsequently CNC embroidered onto the neoprene pods. There is a gallery of preset designs that can be selected for embroidery. The Morph web-site becomes a gallery for teenagers who wish to embroider their peers’ work. Teenagers become their own designers.
