Wawrzyniec Polcyn - Minimal Truth

The art works that I am presenting are examples
of 'Functional Art', most of which are coffee tables. They have
been designed for people who enjoy the challenge of interior
design and readily surround themselves with unusual and
futuristic objects. My main aim was to introduce pieces of
furniture which stand out because of their original form and the
materials used to make them, but which are at the same time
practical and everyday items.
All the pieces are made of glass and metal. Their
weighty and simultaneously noble character offers an alternative
to mass-produced plastic furniture with which the world is
flooded. I wanted to involve cold metallic sounds of industry in
everyday life which, combined with the minimal techno music
create an image of solid and indestructible world. What is also
vital for me is the modernism evoked by the unique form and
multi-functionality of the works. The aim was to create designs
which, as well as being useful, have their own aesthetic
values - the table becomes the sculpture!
