Midori ha uresii…

I took the fact that selected art works will be published on eco-bags as a guideline and design two art works indented for two sides of one bag, their tag line says “midori ha uresii” which can be roughly translated as “green is happy” (green means happy in its figurative sense) with the same freedom for words / meanings game as its English equivalent. Midori is a noun (green color and green like “trees and grass”), ad it is an injective (midori (iro) no – means green in terms of color), I designed a character (Tikyuu-san / Mr. Earth) who is very sad when his tree is cut and grass is trampled down and who is happy when his head is green, I believe this message is clear even without the tagline and can be easily read by those who doesn’t speak Japanese or even English. I also created a handwritten font for Japanese line.
