ménage à trois by christoph schauer from germany
designer's own words:
The concept:
The gap between teenagers and furnitures is among other things based on the oldfashioned surfaces: There are rustic-oak, dark colours and traditional designs for example. But no design or no colour or material has something to do with a today living teenager.
So one destination about a teenager furniture should be typical teenagers images like sport music or lifstyle as surface.
A teenagers life is changing every day. Their permanent mood swings as well as their wish of sitting.
There are various ways teenagers prefer to sit: But almost allways in a unkonventionel and unusual way. Nearby on the floor on a beer crate or on a bed with crossed legs or on the floor with the cupboard as a seatback.
So I desided to design a seat piece of furniture with various possibilities of sitting:
First a very comfortable chaise longue where you can relaxing, reading, dreaming, chilling and so on.
Then an odinary seat for working, eating and -of course- for straight sitting.
At least only a seatback for sitting on the floor and discussing, talking, kidding with friends...
Manufacturing:
The chaise lounge ,ménage-à-trois’ is making of plywood and a cover of a print linolium.
Both are natural and (for teenagers important) p.c. materials.
