The Matrix wall tile uses 10 x 10mm flat-backed peridot coloured Strass Swarovski crystals mounted in a grid pattern on 300 x 300mm polished black slate tiles. These materials exploit an interplay between matte and reflective surfaces. The dark matte surfaces appear to recede while the reflective crystals appear to advance thus creating a trompe l'oeil reminiscent of the visuals used in the motion picture, The Matrix. Ironically, Strass Swarovski Crystals also utilize a matrix to create crystals of unrivaled brilliance.
