maki stool by Maki stools from poland
designer's own words:
Magda Pińczyńska produces high-concept design driven by the motto “everything that exists can be done differently.” That’s why you’ll find fine stools that resemble slices of petrified trees, yet turn out to be coiled cardboard. Strip away preconceptions with some minimist rarities. She bring an unexpectedly tactile dimension to minimalism with these rolled cardboard felt-wrapped drums. While the handmade pouffes are plain and practical, featuring a handle for schlepping and a row of rivets pinning the cover in place, there’s a soft-edged simplicity to each one.
Maki stool show the idea that an object has many functions and show that design should remove stress and enhance quality of life as well as meeting our notion of beauty.
