designer's own words:
_moleskine notebook is an icon _its clear and unmistakable shape makes it a benchmark in the survey of contemporary literature and art _its simplicity can get across a strong message _we started from these basic elements to conceive and develop the logo _the notebook becomes statement of the brand and the letters in the logo simply complete the message _we achieved a letter “m” by cutting the shape of the notebook along an horizontal line _the cut outline and elastic band become the graphical symbol of the “m” of “moleskine” and “moleskinerie”_ to underline the versatility of the original product we completed the notebook shape: in this way we obtained the “w” of “web blog” _the “moleskine” notebook itself becomes its logo and meaning _the simplicity of the graphical line allows different ways of communication _the first proposal shows the name of moleskinerie and the clarification of its function: a web blog _the second one presents only the word “moleskinerie” _ following the way of simplification and communicative strength we got to the third image _the simple shape of the notebook shows the “m” and the “w” into a simple grey square _web address of the blog is written out of the square
