'loops' modular kids toy by sabine marcelis from netherlands
designer's own words:
A problem in todays toy industry is that children become bored of toys very quickly and that products are aimed at a small age range. This translates into a LOT of discarded products and production waste =not sustainable.
I wanted to redesign wooden stilts, but add function to the classic children’s toy so as to make the product’s lifespan longer.
A modular childrens toy was created which consists of:
8 identical hoops
2 poles
8 screws
1 screwdriver
By combining the elements in different ways, the child is able to create various constructions allowing for play of a variety of games. The toy stimulates creativity and physical activity in children.
The bauty of this product is that it is all natural, will stay fun for many years through its versatility, and it caters for a wide age-range of 5-12 year-old boys AND girls.
