lightnext concept showroom for the next generation lighting products by philips by Rahul Pradhan from india
designer's own words:
Project name: LightNEXT | Concept Showroom for LED products
Scope: Concept creation, design direction and execution supervision.
This experience showroom was set up in Chennai in November 2012, which showcases the Philips LED products, mainly in professional lighting category. This is sprawling 2250 Sft showroom located in one of the prominent malls in Chennai.
The typical target customers are architects, interior designers, real estate developers, decision makers from governments and other corporate bodies and the actual consumers.
A well-orchestrated shopper journey was devised to provoke the shoppers to ‘play’ with the dynamic lighting effects followed by knowing more about lighting concepts and products.
The whole showroom was designed around 3 key triggers.
1) Seduction with Light
2) Celebrate the freedom
3) Plan the path
Seduction with Light: A dynamic interplay of light and shadows, colors and intensity creates an immersive and inviting ambience for the shopper. Intuitive interaction invites the shoppers to freely ‘play’ with lights and discover more about them.
Celebrate the freedom: LEDs offer immense opportunities since they free up the designers from the constraints of the color, form, size. In the interactive installations, the shoppers can freely control the light settings using iPad to explore the lighting effects and create more personalized ambience. The shoppers can also know more about the technical features using the same iPad.
Plan the path: Interactive and ‘larger-than-life’ projection for case study presentations, product AVs and concept demonstrators provide the necessary ‘reasons to believe’ for the product claims. The collaborative spaces for idea exchanges and project discussions, encourage more meaningful and consultative dialogue with customer.
