Light Plane by mankades em from uk
designer's own words:
OLED is a technology is evolving continually. Soon larger modules will be made possible and the applications potential will grow exponentially. This combined with the unique quality of OLEDs to be combined into a transparent plane form the basis of the proposed product ‘Light Plane’.
Interesting architectural spaces are always difficult to light. Being able to have light that fits seamless into a space while having multiple day and night functions will be incredible.
Incorporating the OLED into the skylight, creates the ability for skylight to be the light source irrespective of whether it is bright (as a glass plane bringing in external light) or dark (through the OLED light). This increases the options available to designers and users of a space. The transparent nature of the planes will mean that if a view of the night sky is desired this is equally possible.
This product uses the transparent potential of the OLED to create light source that is an integral part of the architectural Fabric.
The light plane can either be incorporated into the window frame itself or used as a secondary plane as is illustrated in the sketch
