Light-IT by Luca Rizzi from italy
designer's own words:
Light-it is an illuminating, portable and rechargeable device, designed to meet the need for portable lighting.
It consists of two clips made in cork or plastic, fixed at the ends of a flexible OLED panel (LL=81FR1-64P1-OY1). Each clip holds a trifold tasks: the first, of an actual clasp to hang-up sheets/documents/recipes or to clamp Light-it to suspended non-metallic supports or tables/shelves; the second, of a magnet to attach Light-It to metallic surfaces; the third, of housing for electronics and rechargeable battery required for OLED supply.
The clip is composed by two elements, connected through a spring-free hinge. A pair of magnets embedded in each clip element allow to fix Light-It on metallic surfaces as well as clip opening/closing: when the user pushes the far edges of the clip, the magnetic attraction holds the elements’ edge in contact until the user pushes on the opposite side.
The clip may be produced in different materials, such as cork by compression moulding, or plastic by injection moulding, and each surface can be customized with different colours and finishes. Customization enables new functionalities; as for example Light-it can become a make-up mirror with light adjustable in direction and intensity at occurrence.
The flexible OLED panel is covered with a flexible and transparent plastic layer to avoid damages. OLED flexibility provides Light-it the maximum versatility of use, allowing the creation of diffuse and orientable (bending with internal or external light) light effects and of several shapes able to respond to user’s functional and aesthetic needs.
A flexible, versatile and portable lighting device with magnetic clips on both sides.
