designer's own words:

Microorganisms and bacteria living at us underfoot can seem too awful if increase them under a microscope. But, in the course of their ability to live the soil generates an electric current. And microorganisms which structure includes zinc and copper perfectly spend it through itself. The 'Life' lamp is the bridge between micro and macro world. Dug in soil copper and zinc electrodes connect and feed a lamp with an electric charge of soil. In the lamp basis built batteries storing energy in a current of day. And in the evening we walk on park enjoying pure air and an evening cool in an environment of easy illumination. Here so the 'Life' lamp unites billions microorganisms giving to us 'green' energy.
