designer's own words:
By 2020 water will be a luxury. Our future selves will look back in wonder at a time when water was freely pumped into our homes and wasted at will. The waterless house will be inevitable.
A lot of water is used to wash dishes. We need to be frugal with water. So how do we encourage this mental shift? By linking our childhood memories and nostalgia of licking plates clean to modern cleaning solutions.
We propose a tongue attachment to clean cutlery called LickClean. It could be made of a light translucent soft plastic impregnated with Cupron. Cupron is a copper compound with anti bacterial properties. The soap could be a development of alcohol free foaming hand sanitizers which need no additional water like Hands2Go. It would be dispensed when pressure is applied by the licking motion. The liquid would be embedded in the plastic and pass through little capillary tubes in the attachment.
New social etiquette could take hold. We might see the democratisation of washing up as each diner licks their own plates sparkling clean.
