lg oled lightstick by andrea ponti from japan
designer's own words:
It has been over two years since the Tsunami devastated the East coast of Japan on March 11, 2011. Yet, the image of that tragedy still lives in our memory. I lived that tragedy up close, and I realized how product design can become a means to help people in need. The LG OLED Lightstick is a portable emergency light especially designed to enhance OLED features (55x53mm) and it pioneers an untapped market for OLED technology. It features a stick that supports three OLED panels that can freely rotate 360° thus allowing for unlimited positions and uses: electric torch/flashlight, upright or slanted light signal on ground or hung on a cable, a tree or any other support. The Lightstick is equipped with a stand for upright charging and immediate use. It could be placed by fire escapes just like fire extinguishers. The red bar works as a switch by simply rotating your hand to select three levels of brightness. Both the stick and the panels are made of aluminum for ultra lightness, durability, and ease of handling and portability.
