leaf handle jorge manchola by jorge manchola from colombia
designer's own words:
the broadleaf handle explores the possibility of grabbing the lever handle in a slightly different way. instead of holding it with a full power grip, its shape allows an almost tong-like grip, but without disturbing the mechanical advantage when turning the handle. it offers a broader area for the palm of the hand to press against. the handle resembles the shape of most broad leafs that grow on trees found in the tropical climates of the world. the shape comes from the simple concept of deconstructing a tree, taking the entire door and the handle to create an abstract imitation of trees, letting the door be like the trunk and the handle would become the leaf that grows from it.
