kuki bin by tsewang gensapa from italy
designer's own words:
KUKIBIN is the first underground garbage bin that engages people to be aware of their cities cleanliness and at the same time maintaining its own simple and emotional design that can suit anywhere.
A simple white polyester coated aluminium plate will blend any environment and resist any weather conditions. With its design, the user can throw trash from above with their hands or from ground with their feet, around an angle of 270°.
One side of the plate is containing 'board' (45° inclined plate wall)along with icons. Now this 'board' will provide sufficient information of usage with its international icons stamped, as well as prevent kicked trashes to spread everywhere.(like a soccer goal net.) Now to enhance trash falling inside and to be visible during the night, the enterance of the trash is smoothly curved with green light line entergrated.
The trash bin is placed underground in order to hide ugly trashes. Unlike other exposed trash bin, this 'holed' stainless steel bin will be sufficient to hold any trashes, avoid damages from angry crowd and the drainage of water.
Due to its design, for its safety matter of tripping inside, and let user notice the position of KUKIBIN, we immplemented a red bird, sitting on top of KUKIBIN. Now through this, it can communicate with the user its position, and furthermore give a 'warning', just like a golf pole or street sign.
Once the trash bin is full, from outside it will look like a little bird is sitting on top of trash, and the cleaner will change simply taking bin out of the ground by holding red bird and the support bar where the bird is sitting.
