kitchen, concrete by milena monssen from germany
designer's own words:
Cooking is a pleasure and it is even more if you don’t do it alone. The main feature -the loop - breaks out from the 2-dimensionality of the standard kitchen and cheers up the usual working space. It adds up one sqm of working space, provides extra storage for frequently used pots and pans and creates an additional working sphere. At the end the loop becomes a chic bench - good news for those who after all still prefer socialising instead of working in the kitchen.
The loop consists of oil and acid resistent concrete, the supporting cupboards are made from wood. The heights of the drawers vary according to the contents and their typical sizes - water bottles, spices, jars, food supply, tetra paks, cutlery.
If then the chef gets tired, he will rest on the bench, composing new delicious creations. In case this sought-after place is already taken, he will just pinch a stool out of the big drawer below and join the dolce-fare-niente around the loop, now spontaneously transformed to a snack bar.
