Kigo by PaulineB from france
designer's own words:
The kimono represents a whole intricacy rules. I was especially inspired by one of these rules: the seasons.
My product is an accessory that you can turn into four different shapes with simple gestures (a poncho, a bag, a hood and a scarf).
The base represents the season and the two long pieces represent the obi. The “obi” is the only part where the pattern is appearing whereas the base is showing a graphical effect. Kigo is mostly made by the craftsmen; using the dye techniques and pattern making. But, in order to add a modern touch and improve the speed of production the fabric is fold and pressed with machines.
You can wear it all along the year by switching the shape and playing with the color combination. Indeed, you can detach the base from the obi and go for another combination. The possibilities are endless.
About the concept store, customers will see different collections. But, the main idea is to propose a workshop session gathering craftsmen and customers where they will be able to create their own pattern by learning the different techniques in a simple way.
Let the user participate to give more impact on his mind.
