'key to the city' by mark meerdink from netherlands
designer's own words:
a cityscape tiled wall that is visible from the outside.
beck's doorhandles.
a logo shaped bar that holds the key that serves as a centerpiece off the whole space, it lights up the bar area when the ceiling spotlights are turned low. so you can drink a beck's and watch a young artist show his movies at the same time.
oversized couches that seat up to five people at the same time; facilitating communication between strangers. the chairs are light and can be easily moved to create an exhibition or presentation space, and reshuffled to make it a nightclub or cinema later on.
since the space itself is so versatile, the people frequenting it will be a mix; from the young and hip to the old and wise.
with one important thing in common; they all love a beer.
