keiman sprouter by dörte ahlgrimm from germany
designer's own words:
Bridging the gap between modern lifestyle and the origin of food:
Keiman is a porcelain set designed to cultivate, serve and store sprouts.
Naturally, seeds are the most compact of foods: All nutrients needed for sprouting are inside, which makes sprouts such a healthy (and tasty!) snack.
The organic shape contrasts with the smooth porcelain surface, referencing both the nature-related function of Keiman and the sterility of food products with unknown origin we often purchase at the store. Keiman allows users to be involved in their own food production by making the process convenient and beautiful.
