jammu kashmir bank retail design by shanoo bhatia from india
designer's own words:
The need was to create a people’s bank that addressed the crying need for entrepreneurship and prosperity in a region torn by strife and insecurity.
Our work commenced in evaluating existing branches and the conclusions were startling. There was no visual and technical synergy, the bank staff managers were allocated prime area with minimum area or facilities to the public. Being a nerve centre to the region, the bank needed to lend itself to the comfort and convenience of all its staff and customers, without sacrificing the cultural for the contemporary.
Apart from intuitive and efficient interaction for the customer, our design drew upon regional motif, material and idioms. Backward integration ensured inclusion of local craftsmen in the creation of an inviting bank experience ensuring each and every corner of the bank was true to its origins.
