designer's own words:

the quality of “the everlasting” lies where the present meets the past while expecting the future. our concept starts exactly from that point, of what “the everlasting” is. our logo is a symbol which exactly shows this everlastingness of moleskine and its products.
from this starting point and keeping in mind that projects, plans, ideas, concepts interchange forever in the time and the only thing that changes is the way that they are expressed, our logo shows that moleskine rejuvenates, develops and participates in this change. thus, it becomes the absolute means of expressing the thought, which is either written on a notebook or some other times it appears on a computer screen. moleskine finally becomes the focus of a whole string of ideas.
the colorful “mice” of the pattern, presenting the basic colours of the company, symbolize the users, but they also define exactly their individuality through their choices. there are different colours for everybody, a variety of preferences, different choices, countless thoughts, special people but all of them have something in common…the moleskine.
the pattern has the element of communication and it is the invisible “link” among individuals who feel the need to express themselves in a different way. using this logo as a symbol on various everyday useful objects, one feels as a member of this imaginary “team” which strongly contributes to the need of communication.
the straight line of the pattern differentiates and unifies and at the same time, it separates and combines people, present, past and future.
the logo is flexible and it has a transparent background which can be used as the printing of a negative film. it can also be used with or without colours. the original notebook has been chosen because it works as the symbol of the company and it is the most characteristic and recognizable all over the world, but it has been given a new dimension by putting the word “blog” on it. In this way it has been converted from a lifeless bundle of pages to a vivid, interactive, new “space”.
