inside and outllook

designer's own words:

Apartment doors are borders between private and public spaces. “Inside and Outlook” is a metaphor for this frontier from the standpoint of the inside. The spyhole as a functional security product is the interface to the outside in terms of protection of the „private paradise“. The image of the outside space is deformed by its fisheye-optics like in a distorting mirror.
The multiplication of the spyhole scatters the centralized controlling view. It allows a whole famíly to participate in outlooking and intensifies as an ornament of security a secure feeling. Outlooking is turned into a play, in which the observed objects are distorted from multiple perspectives. A world formely unknown is visualized.
At night apartment lightning shines through each spyhole illuminating the hallway in front of the door. The spy-ornament symbolizes a highly guarded entrance to a secret and hidden world. At the same time the visitor approaches the overexposed security as useless and disfunctional - as an ornament.
Adolf Loos reformulated: Ornament instead of crime!
