infla tables by richard skinner from australia
designer's own words:
Infla tables are a series of low tables made with re-used inner-tubes, compressed between plywood discs. They are portable, easy to assemble, and bulgey. They refer to dodgem cars, donuts and hovercraft. Through varied shapes and cut-outs, bulges are formed when the tubes are inflated. Each has a different bulge effect - some are decorative, others act as footrests, or even as seating positions. Each infla table has a functional surface, suitable for using a computer, watching tv, reading, writing, drawing or games. Some have storage solutions - a bowl for snacks, a vase, a place for remotes, phones, magazines or discs - utilizing the space in the middle of the tube.
