infiniti designboom pavilion by bryan welcel from usa
designer's own words:
imagine a glass enclosure. inside is the new infiniti electric or hybrid car. a monitor plays a video that shows images of cities full of smog, gas stations, oil wells, offshore drilling, coal burning power plants and all the harmfull effects of fossil fuels. as the video plays the glass enclosure slowly begins to fill with smoke (made using a smoke machine hidden within the glass enclosure) to symbolize the harmful effects of fossil fuel. then when the glass enclosure is completely full of smoke and you can barely see the infiniti car the video begins to tell of infinitis dedication to hybrid and electric vehicles. the video shows how no car company in the world has done more to advance green cars then infiniti and as the video plays the smoke slowly begins to clear, the smoke is slowly drawn through the tail pipe of the Infiniti hybrid car or even better the non existent tail pipe of the new electric car until eventually the smoke in the glass enclosure is completely gone revealing the car that then begins to slowly rotate. at night lights inside the glass case will illuminate the smoke and bring it to life.
the glass enclosure represents a display case in a museum or art gallery and the art on display is the infiniti. the case is also a solar pavilion. the pavilion has a solar roof that can completely charge an electric car off grid. the solar pavilion is built using a modular building system www.quadranthouse.com the pavilion can easily be assembled and disassembled. not just a sculpture and display case but an actual solar carport that can be marketed. combined with the new infiniti electric car the solar carport will make Infiniti the first car company to market a completely green car. all the profits from the sale of the solar carports can go to establish infiniti designboom scholarships. not just in exciting interactive sculpture but an actual product that will establish infiniti as the first car company to market a completely off grid, fossil fuel free, carbon neutral, green car.
the glass enclosure could be designed with glass on all four sides or options for one wall such as solar panels, a green wall, louvers, etc. beyond a glass enclosure a larger pavilion could be built that would include a sitting area with computer and monitor that could have both a hybrid and electric car where people could go into and learn more about the performance of Infiniti and the designboom competition, an infiniti designboom pavilion.
the solar carports won't take up any space at Infiniti dealearships and will bring people to the dealerships to look into this new concept and create excitement in advance of the new infiniti electric car. introducing not only an electric car but a solar charging station and potentially a new market. infiniti the most innovative greenest car company in the world. performance that inspires change.
