Infinite Infiniti

Infinite Infiniti by Maja Petric from usa

designer's own words:

my work is about changing the perception of space in purpose of conveying a story. in this case, i have designed a space that manipulates perception to tell the story about the luxury car brand infiniti. the physical installation that i am proposing is made by positioning an infiniti car between layers of mirrors that face each. mirrors create infinite reflections of the infiniti car fading into the distance of the white tunnel.

the images i have submitted here are capturing 1/14 scale model of an infiniti g37 in a 23.6 x 23.6 x 23.6" white cube tent with 14" diameter mirrors on two sides of the tent. lights are positioned around the tent to illuminate the car. this simple installation can be easily scaled up and down. it would have the most powerful effect in the full scale of the infinti car.

this proposal derives from my work titled with no end, a light box triptych created by use of light and reflective materials to simulate an infinite echo of a broken mirror, a crack with no end that serves as an opening between the tangible and the intangible reality. you can view it at http://www.majapetric.com/portfolio/with_no_end/

my background is in creating spatial situations by designing spaces, fabricating structures, manipulating materials, and integrating experimental lighting and audiovisual systems. in this field i have received a doctorate candidacy at the university of washington’s center for digital art and experimental media. i recently exhibited at henry art gallery in seattle and received richard kelly light art award, two thunen lighting awards, and doctoral fellowship from croatian science foundation.
