Imprint: Coved Plaster LED Architectural Sconce and Footlight by marc scime from usa
designer's own words:
Imprint is a play on perception, a sleight of light and a sensation of the ordinary.
Imprint juggles absence and ambivalence to create a vague and strange, déjà vu experience. Within an instant of first encountering the illuminated shape, the viewer may question what they believe they see. The viewer could have different or even contradictory first, second and third impressions.
The question shifts: Is it a luminary or a luminaire? Is it an incandescent light?
In fact, it is a counter-relief form of trompe-l’œil, illuminated by a tiny coved light emitting diode.
Imprint is for interior and outdoor corridors, hall-ways and rooms where ADA compliance, essential minimalism, and a moody and warm indirect quality of light are in order.
The prototypes were made of resin reinforced ZCorp plaster 3D prints. The production process will be slip cast reinforced plaster, sealed and impregnated with a bio-resin.
