il cuore di milano by nicole jacek from germany
designer's own words:
this is a concept for an art competition in milan / italy
on a 360 square meter wall at colonne di san lorenzo, a hip and cool district in the middle of milan.
short description of concept:
the only sign occuring in all religions is the heart. our art installation for the city of milan is a heart made up of ultra thin led tubes spaced in intervals. the structure is nearly invisible. the heart is pulsating in organic flows & is programmed to respond to volume of voices (people, cars, birds,…) recorded by a microphone for that moment in time, which influences the pulse and constant movement of the heart. the louder it is the more intensive is the heartbeat. the color is up to the temperature recorded by a sensor.
this light installation is a living architecture & allows the place colonne di san lorenzo to interact with its visitors (passers-by may influence the light show by a 2nd micro) & also to reflect its surrounding environments, feelings & life in the middle of milan. a city without a heart is a dead city.
approx. size of heart:
11.4 x 8.6 m
required equipment for set up:
versa ray (outdoor led tubes; rgb; 1 tube: 2 m), computer, 1 regular temperature sensor, 2 regular outdoor microphones.
