ICON by simon enever from usa
designer's own words:
icon was born out of the coming together of two ideas. The first was to create a totally fresh aesthetic for a door handle, stepping away from smart clean lines designed to blend in with the surroundings and instead, shamelessly drawing the attention of passers-by, encouraging them to enter the room ahead over other rooms around them. The second idea was based on an insight into how some users hold onto door levers when they twist. Perhaps because people are more often used to turning door knobs, I noticed many people wrapping their thumb around to the left of the lever as if hugging a door knob when twisting. This is the reason for the secondary "stem" on the lever, an area where the thumb can push against. The lever is designed to be cast in the usual conventional door lever materials, but looks best in striking golds, coppers and solvers or even jet black or accent coloured plastics. The Rose system is hidden inside/ behind the lever casting to continue the organic, seamless, form and to give the impression of the lever protruding straight out from the door like a brand on a tree.
