i closet by Hugo Ribeiro from portugal
designer's own words:
This closet was made thinking on the high
speed information society that teenagers
live in.
Its form is similar to a computer tower
creating an analogy with that object that is
most present in teens life making their
connection with the world, just like the
objects they own.
The chosen materials represent the dualism
tradition VS inovation, by using traditional
wood in the interior and stainless steel
making the link with the contemporary life.
The drawers open just with a click (like
clicking on a mouse pad) and the opening
direction was chosen to break the rules of
normal interaction with furniture, looking like
they have been ejected (once more the
connection with the computer interaction).
Trying to be informal, multifuncional and
different, the container reflects the
teenagers rebelion towards rules.
