designer's own words:
With both men and women working longer hours with more stress and less time for menial household chores, we thought that it would be important to make the whole process of cleaning clothes a lot easier and less hassle.
We observed that many people, when arriving home from work or from a club, tend to immediately throw their clothes over something, most often the back of a chair, and leave them there until they needed to be washed. By designing an object that clothes can thrown on and then cleaned by that object, we believe that a lot of time can be saved.
HangClean is a cactus like object that will remove minor signs of dirt, or smells from clothing, thus keeping your clothes fresh without having to go through the effort of wasting water washing them. The round pressure sensitive nodes on it’s body secrete a cleaning enzyme into clothing that is placed on it. By being pressure sensitive, heavier clothes will get a larger dose of the enzyme, or if an item is at the top of a pile, the enzyme will get to it because of the combined weight of that pile. They would also be made of a felt-like material for extra grip. The base is heavy to avoid tipping and the amount of enzyme can be replaced when finished.
