Handmade low cost panel for the thermal and acoustic insulation of buildings in poor areas of the world by WA+SA+PAN from italy
designer's own words:
WA+SA+PAN is a handmade panel at low cost for the thermal and acoustic insulation of buildings in poor areas of the world.
This panel does NOT reduce waste.
This panel use waste.
Although it may contribute to the sorting of waste and to keep the streets clean, this does NOT mean that we have to produce waste to build this panel
To not have waste is necessary to NOT produce waste
All you need are corrugated sheets, wooded planks and plastics waste. The material may be new or recovery.
The shape in wood will be positioned at a vertex of the corrugated sheet to create the necessary overlap of the sheet between a panel and the other and its height will determine the insulating panel.
The waste will form the insulating layer and must be compactable, clean and very dry. Preferably will be: scraps of plastic sheeting, plastic bags, plastic bottles caps, corks, pieces of rubber, etc. The waste will be collected in plastic bags and pressed into the wooden form
To fill in the blanks you can use loose waste in order to have a complete layer and compact
The second corrugated sheet close the sandwich creating the insulating panel
The panel is self-supporting and is possible to reduce the main structure The panel can be used to build walls or roofs The panel improves thermal and acoustic insulation of single corrugated
