commercial aluminium alloy is applied for this study. the in-house apparatus have a stainless steel cathode that contains 1 liter of electrolyte. designed model is immersed in the electrolyte serves as the anode. experiments were made in an aqueous solution of sodium meta silicate and sodium hydroxide. voltage was applied to the electrodes from the homemade ac cum dc 10a power supply unit and required level of constant current was manually maintained. the electrolyte was mixed with a stirrer to ensure that the composition and concentration of the electrolyte inside the pin was homogeneous throughout volume during the peo processes. a stainless steel strip was used as an electrode. designedly, a cathode was placed inside the pin to eliminate the effect of electric field shield. the electrolyte was cooled by water externally so that temperature was maintained around 25±2°c.
