Handle Shake by avi cohen from israel
designer's own words:
Handle-shake
The door handle is the first product we interact with as we enter a room, and the last to touch as we leave it. And yet, our connection with this particular piece of equipment is taken for granted.
We would like to create a different, more personal experience, equivalent to a hand shake extended to friends and acquaintances.
In order to emulate the hand-shake feeling, the handle is partially furrowed, creating "fingers" that endow the wood with flexibility and movement. When pressed upon, the handle-shake fingers close together, and spring back to place once released. In this fashion, the handle-shake interacts with the person opening the door, imitating the feeling of a hand shake.
