handle in bloom by anna trzebska from poland
designer's own words:
this is a proposal for re-design of 'classical' form of handle. outline from a classical form is cut in a plexiglass sheet for both the handle and the key plate.
it's a fusion style yet not used in handle manufacturing. classical outline of shapes made in wrought iron
now can be cut as a flat sheet in a plastic-like transparent and light material. We can aplly any collor to accent the interior character of the room or simply use the transparency values as a new modern silverness so commonly used as a value in steel (silver, chrome, gold) handles.
plexiglas is a enough solid material to bear the handle stresses. the weakest part of it are only the connections, but it is solved by correct cuting elements so the stresses are transfered from one piece of material to another like a puzzle not only by glue connections.
using a plexiglas in a handle manufacturing opens the whole wariety of contemporary design possibilities especially in the fusion style, pop or new-look ornamental design. this design is a sample of the ornamental style so the handle can blossom even in modern design.
this, which was made in wrought iron now can be cut in plexiglass sheet. handle was heavy, now it's light and transparent. it was three-dimensional ornamental artist's sculpture and now there is only a contour outlined from it's shadow like a memory of the past...but the handle still blossom even in modern design.
