designer's own words:

appendage 1:

This is a 'green' bus stop. The idea is for it to be more of a 'green shelter' which consists of two large billboards on light boxes (the first panel to the left and the last panel to the right), two smaller ones and an image in the middle. At night these light boxes light up from the power produced by the solar panel on the roof and act both as information panels as well as a light for the bus driver to see the bus shelter clearly. As bus stops are typical places for waiting around they provide information about global warming and what one can do to help, whilst waiting for the bus.The middle panel with the photograph on it is made of a heat sensitive material. The brown (on the lower part of the panel) appears as smog when someone leans on it, acknowledging the impact that each and every one of us is making on the environment. The image is of the scene behind the panel to emphasise making an impact on our immediate environment and surroundings. The two smaller panels on either side of the photograph show the bus routes and timetable and act as light boxes. The green bin to the far right is painted with flourescent paint which glows once it has been exposed to sunlight, emphasising to clean up our surroundings and environment. With this bus shelter everyday people can be exposed to a solar panel actively and effectively working. The line that runs a long all the panels from yellow to red is a representation of a timeline and as it reaches the red it gets closer to 2070 to show how hot the earth will be.

appendage 2:

This panel/lightbox (first panel in the bus shelter) is composed of various weather patterns in the background and then overlayed with simple information as to how global warming works as well as a few aspects of what will happen if it is not combatted.

appendage 3:

This panel/lightbox (last panel in the bus shelter) provides the viewer with various ways they can help do their bit to prevent global warming as well as a website and helpline they can call in order to gain more information.
