greenspace cities reinvented by veiko klemmer from estonia

designer's own words:

uh, bumped into this contest just a day before closure - so no fine renderings :( ...

anyway

the idea is to have green space for everyone, by building mega-structures much like termite nests, yet preserving individuality. everyone will have their own custom two stores high apartment full of light and nature (two floor-to-ceiling windows on either side and overall dimensions of 20x10x4.5m + 5x10m balconies on each side for growing groceries and relaxation)the city itself is curved like a starfish (and won't distress the eye much, since every possible surface is housing some sort of a plant).
mega-cities also house services and light-industry deep within it's shell (heavy industry is far from the cities and connected with under terrestrial highways) so the surrounding areas are left for recreational activities (sport, music etc)
the structure uses much inner heat to keep warm (built to be passive) and natural altitude caused draft to ventilate required areas. walls are of course soundproof, made out of recycled waste which is pressed to different densities to absorb noise. movement inside the city is done by using fast elevator lints (as seen in airports9 :P
