Green Dreamer by Xijin Zhong from netherlands
designer's own words:
In the hectic society people face great pressure to maintain high income and consumption level to fulfill their needs, since the culture of consumerism makes us believe that the more we consume, the better off we are. This mindset results in several environmental issues. On the other hand, environmental responsible behaviours are generally considered self-sacrifice. Thus, subjective well-being and environmental sustainability are normally two contradictory concerns.
Design concept Green Dreamer aims to question the stereotyped mindset of materialism and encourage the customers to foster a healthy attitude towards money. Four main features guide the user through a whole process of life events such as holiday, children, and marriage. To specify, DREAM CATCHER feature provides suggestions with PERMA, a positive psychology model, which encourages the customers to pursue activities contributing to their wellbeing. The following JOURNEY feature keeps a track of the execution process of each life events, including the financial saving and peer support. When the customer enters the purchase or consumption phase, in physical shops or online shopping, SUNFLOWER feature provides information of certain goods with Happiness Planet Index to facilitate the decision-making. As a reflection , HAPPINESS GARDEN visualizes the customer’s past purchase history and sustainability level.
