green bangle by andrew wee from philippines
designer's own words:
We cannot see the harmful microscopic particles floating in the air we breathe. People may be complacent because they don’t see the threat. Thus, it is imperative to provide a visual warning, which the green bangle provides.
It measures the level of air pollution with sensors or receives signals from air-pollution measurement systems and translates them by glowing into the corresponding color code.
Thus, it warns not only its wearer (especially those with respiratory problems) but others as well. A few people wearing it can highlight an area’s air quality and have a galvanizing effect on the community, which leads to more concrete actions. A red zone will sense more urgency to clean up; a green zone becomes a highly desirable place to live in.
