Gleather vases by marica zottino from italy
designer's own words:
Gleather vases combine two prestigious italian craft fields: hand-blown glass and tannery.
Inspiration came from traditional glass Venetian lanterns, hand-blown into metal "cages". I turned metal cages into suede leather pockets, taking advantage of suede natural characteristics such elasticity, softness and extreme resistance to high temperatures. In fact, leather doesn't catch fire, and interacts with high temperatures slightly changing colour starting from the edges. I think this can be aesteticaly good and can ensure every piece is unique.
Suede pockets are made out of a pieceof leather with cuts in it, to allow the glass to pop out and to ease the tempering phase.
There are huge possibility of combining suede patterns and colours with glass colours.
