get down on it by nick solomon from uk
designer's own words:
Teenagers have an instinct for disobeying: messing up their rooms, playing video games, lying on the floor. The concept for “Get Down On It” (GDOI) came from a combination of the above – a structure that could let you lie comfortably facing the television, close to floor and house most of the mess your cool gadgets produce! GDOI is like a large white stingray (L100xW70xH40) with a coloured interior and lid, available in three “pop” shades: pink, green and orange. The rigidity of the structure is ideal for sprawling yourself over, whilst providing a gentle curve for your back.
GDOI is designed as a white Polypropylene plastic shell, produced by injection moulding, with a black bumpy vinyl base, providing the structure with little friction against the floor. The interior of the shell is lacquered with the same colour as the lid, a rigid shell covered in a 3cm silicone gel cushion. This provides the user with the comfort whilst lying sprawled over the object.
An ergonomic alternative to the floor.
A practical container.
A cool object.
GET DOWN ON IT.
