designer's own words:

The world seems increasingly the result of alliteration of the average; the influence of ergonomics has meant objects have become more and more homogenous. These ceramic objects provide a framework to discuss anthropometrics and its effect on standardisation-

How can we expose some of the fundamental flaws of ergonomics and the idea that anthropometrics policies the boundaries of the body.

The size of the mugs handles have been calculated by using the data of the extremes- the tallest man ever recorded Robert and the smallest women ever recorded Pauline.

The goal was to expose some of the restrictions of using ergonomics and to show how ergonomics can devaluate difference- the effect is two mugs that sit out of place because of there inappropriateness- but in fact they are not strange at all for the human bodies that would inhabit them.

For me, they are a celebration of difference- creations for people who have no choice but to be non-conformist.
